Myanmar
Myanmar, or Burma until 1989, holds living treasures such as Aung San Suu Kyi captive, while opening its doors to visitors to many of its magical sights. From the current capital of Yangoon to the ancient Mon capital Bago, Mandalay, home of Burmese Kings for centuries, and the 11th century capital Pagan, few have experienced this ?Country of Gold.? Fewer still have explored the Inle Lake, set in the hills of the Shan State and the thousands of Buddha images set inside the Pindaya Caves and met with many of the 135 ethnic groups distributed throughout this friendly, but politically difficult country.
